See for yourself what happens inside SAHMRI!

Ever wondered what goes on behind the thousands of triangular windows that enclose the South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute?

Well on Sunday, 18 August, you can see for yourself at SAHMRI's Open Day!

Grab a coffee and a snack from SAHMRI's on-site cafe then take a free guided tour of our iconic Cheesegrater headquarters from bottom to top; engage with a variety of presentations from our researchers; plus explore a host of fun, interactive displays throughout the building.

Visitors to previous SAHMRI Open Days have been blown away by what they’ve experienced:

“The grip strength test, the memory test, learning how many sugar cubes are in some processed food - every stall was interesting and the staff very informative."

Speak with our researchers about their work
Find out how strong your grip is, and what that means for your health.
"I now know how much exciting research is being done at SAHMRI. The Open Day was the happiest day I have experienced in a long while, after retiring over 20 years ago!"
“It was great to have the opportunity to see and hear about the research being undertaken from truly passionate people. Being inside such a unique architectural statement enhanced the experience.”
"I was impressed by the huge number of researchers, the scope of research and the enthusiasm of the presenters."
"The thing that came across most throughout our visit was the genuine love and passion the researchers have for the work they do at SAHMRI. Such a wonderful place to work!"

Standing at the heart of one of the largest health and medical precincts in the southern hemisphere, SAHMRI has been at the forefront of many life-changing discoveries over the past decade. And our breakthroughs aren't confined to the lab, they're translated into life-saving medications, evidence-based healthcare policies and refined clinical practices.

SAHMRI brings together more than 700 researchers to collaborate across four primary areas of study - delving into diverse responses to cancer care and treatment; bridging health disparities faced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities; boosting health and reducing harm for mums and their babies; and tackling a whole host of chronic health conditions that plague our everyday lives.

Don't miss your opportunity to discover SAHMRI for yourself, with free entry from 10am to 4pm on Sunday, 18 August.
