Overcoming chronic visceral pain

Identifying the underlying causes and discovering novel therapeutic treatments for chronic visceral pain
Overcoming chronic visceral pain
Project Status: In progress
Project administered by: Flinders University

Chronic visceral pain is a major but underappreciated clinical, social and economic challenge affecting more than 1.5 billion people globally.

Leading forms of chronic visceral pain include irritable bowel syndrome, endometriosis and bladder pain syndrome, but all lack effective treatments.

Using scientific models, human biospecimens and translational science this project will identify the causes of these prevalent forms of chronic pain and develop novel treatments for these debilitating conditions.

This project is funded by the National Health and Medical Research Council
