SAHMRI's research into Genetics
Genetics

Genetics is the study of genes and how the characteristics of an organism are passed from one generation to the next. Genetic research strives to understand how genes and genetic sequence variation impact health and disease development.

Genetics and genomic technologies underpin a significant proportion of SAHMRI’s research. Identifying disease genes - and correcting them using the latest genome editing technology - is central to research in our Precision Cancer Medicine Theme. Genetics is also fundamentally important for the South Australian Genomics Centre and the South Australian Genome Editing facility, both of which reside at SAHMRI.
