    Loren Matthews manages the Large Animal Research Imaging Facility at the Preclinical, Imaging, and Research Laboratories (PIRL) within SAHMRI. With over 36 years of experience in the medical research industry, Loren has played a crucial role in supporting local, interstate, and international research groups, contributing to medical advancements that have significantly impacted patient treatments worldwide.
    In her role, Loren ensures that researchers have access to the necessary equipment, staffing, and resources for efficient study execution. She is proficient in performing key procedures such as anaesthesia and catheterisation and holds an X-ray license, enabling her to assist with imaging requirements. Additionally, Loren plays a pivotal role in organizing surgical training workshops, managing logistics to ensure smooth and successful delivery.

    Beyond her responsibilities in the imaging facility, Loren is actively involved with PIRL's School of Anatomy and has served on various animal ethics committees, priortizing animal welfare and upholding the highest ethical standards and research integrity. As a dedicated team member at PIRL, she also contributes to PC2, BC1, Cytotoxic, and GLP studies, furthering important research initiatives across a wide range of scientific fields.
