Fiona Bright

Dr Fiona Bright obtained her PhD in Medicine from the University of Adelaide, with her PhD research focusing on the brainstem neuropathology underlying Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). Since her PhD, Fiona has and is actively contributing research to the field of neuroscience encompassing the neuropathology and molecular underpinnings of pediatric conditions (SIDS, Childhood Dementias) and early-onset neurodegenrative disorders (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis-ALS, frontotemporal dementias-FTD). In 2024, Fiona joined Prof Cedric Bardy's research team in the Laboratory for Human Neurophysiology, Genetics and Stem Cells at the South Australia Health and Medical Research Institute (SAHMRI), to further explore the neuropathophysiology of various central nervous system conditions. Fiona's research is currently funded by a Motor Neuron Disease Research Australia Postdoctoral Fellowship and a Dementia Australia Research Foundation Project Grant.
