Dr Erandi Gardiye Hewawasam Thuduwage

Dr Erandi Hewawasam is a postdoctoral research fellow working at the Australia and New Zealand Dialysis and Transplant Registry (ANZDATA) at SA Health and Medical Research Institute (SAHMRI). She is currently coordinating patient-centred research in pregnancy and chronic kidney disease (CKD). Her vision is to improve parenthood outcomes for Australians with CKD by utilising evidence-based pathways for parenthood planning and care informed by robust data, patient and clinician perspectives. Erandi has completed a PhD in Science at the University of Adelaide in collaboration with SAHMRI, focusing on the short- and long-term effects of fish oil in preterm born children, which has been awarded the Dean’s Commendation for Doctoral Thesis Excellence. She has also worked in other research roles at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital. Her research interests include maternal and fetal outcomes in pregnancies complicated by kidney disease. She is the secretary of the Development Origin of Health and Disease Australia and New Zealand (DOHaD ANZ). She is also a current member of the Australian Society for Medical Research council (ASMR-SA).

Erandi has been teaching Human Body 1 and 2, and Scientific Basis of Clinical Practice courses at the School of Pharmacy and Medical Sciences, University of South Australia.
