Dr Amanda Lumsden

Dr Lumsden is a Research Fellow in the Nutritional and Genetic Epidemiology Group at the Australian Centre for Precision Health, within the Cancer Research Institute at UniSA. She trained in Genetics and has a background in laboratory-based molecular biology research, focussed on neurodegenerative diseases (Alzheimer’s disease and Huntington’s disease), and various aspects of metabolism (obesity, type 2 diabetes, and gut endocrinology). As part of the NGE team she applies her biology experience to the design and interpretation of ‘big data’ studies using large population cohorts to explore relationships between genetic risk, metabolic profiles, and disease, and to identify modifiable lifestyle factors and potential therapeutic candidates.
