About the role

SAHMRI are seeking a Senior Facilities Services Officer to join us as a key member of the Facilities team. The position will play a vital role in supporting the management of equipment and facility services, ensuring smooth and continued operation of research activities across the insititue. The position will be responsible for coordinating and managing the delivery of minor works, equipment maintenance and facility services including building security systems. This is a highly customer focused role, which will require regular interaction with staff across the institute,  to ensure the needs of the research groups, clients and partner groups are met.


Key responsibilities include:

  • Acting as a key point of contact within the Facilities team for staff, partner groups, contractors and external stakeholders, responding prompty to queries.
  • Ensuring building services and contracts are executed in accordance with the identified scope of works and agreed contract KPI’s
  • Coordinate planned inspections and shutdowns with user groups
  • Oversee mandatory, preventative and corrective maintenance
  • Ensure management of the facilities base building documentation, drawings and associated information are kept up to date.
  • Assisting with developing tender documentation
  • Assisting with management of the facilities Building Management System (BMS).
  • Maintaining accurate facility asset records within the Asset Management System
  • Manage and maintain the facility seating planning to ensure appropriate space allocation is maintained, including seating audits.
  • Contribute to disaster recovery planning and risk assessment processes and audits.

About You

The successful candidate will possess the following key attributes:

  • Tertiary qualifications in a research, project or engineering related discipline is desirable or extensive relevant experience..
  • Experience with Building Management Systems (desirable).
  • Experience in project and contract management (desirable).
  • Experience working in a research facility, laboratory or customer service environment (desirable)
  • Computer competency in a variety of applications including MS Suite, AutoCAD and ability to learn new computer programs and applications quickly.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with stakeholders and colleagues at all levels.
  • Demonstrated success in negotiating outcomes with customers and stakeholders.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and manage various demands and customer /stakeholder expectations.
  • Knowledge of Work Health & Safety legislation and regulations

Special Requirements

  • Some out of hours’ work may be required.
  • Availability to be on-call on a roster system to manage after hours and emergency/security services
  • Travel to other SAHMRI sites may be required
  • DCSI Employement screening may be required
