An exciting opportunity has become available for a Philanthropy and Engagement Coordinator to join SAHMRI. This unique and diverse role will offer the opportunity to work closely with the Philanthropy and Engagement team in showcasing SAHMRI through engagement programs with stakeholders.  The role is primarily responsible for organising and providing logistics coordination at events and coordinating specific projects within the fundraising portfolio as well as administrative support in responding to stakeholder enquiries and receipting and payments. The role will work collaboratively with the Head of Philanthropy and Engagement in supporting marketing and engagement activities across SAHMRI.

This is a varied role where you will work as part of a small team. Flexibility, adaptability and a can-do attitude are key to success in this position.

About the role

Key responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating and facilitating monthly public tours of SAHMRI
  • Engagement events hosted at SAHMRI- organising logistics, coordinating speakers and managing communications with attendees in line with budgeting.
  • External engagement events- coordination of volunteers, organising collateral and merchandise, managing platforms and coordinating with the media team.
  • Liaising with SAHMRI partners, Board members and supporters when appropriate to facilitate their event at SAHMRI, and to ensure their experience exceeds expectations.
  • Administrating the customer relationship management database (Salesforce) and its connections to other marketing and fundraising software to ensure all financial, contact and relationship information is accurate and up to date.
  • Processing and receipting donations
  • Ensuring compliance to fundraising, finance, privacy and data policies and regulations.
  • Processing Regular Donations, following up failed payments and setting up regular donations.
  • Ensuring that activities are legally compliant and in line with SAHMRl's Fundraising Policy
  • Managing incoming emails to the shared mailboxes and ensuring information is correctly responded to or forwarded accordingly.

About You

The successful candidate will possess the following key attributes:

  • Relevant qualifications or significant relevant work experience in coordination and management of successful stakeholder events, administration, database management, or customer service.
  • Proven experience of end-to-end events planning, coordination and execution
  • Proven experience working with databases
  • Experience in using communication software, social media accounts and the Microsoft Office suite
  • Exceptional organisational and time management skills together with resourcefulness, creativity and initiative to manage multiple and overlapping priorities under broad direction
  • Excellent communication skills - written, verbal and on the phone
  • Integrity and commitment to ethical and collegial behaviour
  • Demonstrated initiative and resourcefulness
  • Self-motivated person with a can-do and flexible attitude who can work independently and as part of a team
  • Passion for implementing new learnings into the role
