The Australia & New Zealand Organ Replacement Therapies Registry Group ANZORRG is a group of Clinical Quality Registries that collects, analyses, and reports on data related to organ donation and replacement therapies to improve patient outcomes and inform clinical practice across Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand.


We are seeking a Biostatistician to join SAHMRI, supporting the Australia & New Zealand Organ Replacement Therapies Registry Group (ANZORRG) as part of the reporting and analytics team. The role will collaborate with the team on internal projects, including analyses for reports, support a variety of quality improvement and research projects and assist the registry team to respond to requests for analysis of data.

The position will offer an excellent opportunity to develop your career while working with other Biostatisticians and Registry staff both medical and scientific and build strong networks with contributors to the ANZORRG registries across Australia and New Zealand.

About the role

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing accurate and timely analysis of statistical information pertaining to the ANZORRG Registries, particularly in response to requests from contributing units, other collaborating parties and government and academic bodies
  • Performing statistical analyses of research projects undertaken within the ANZORRG Registries
  • Providing explanation of results to requesting parties both in writing and verbally
  • Assisting with biostatistical issues and analyses as they affect ANZORRG, including performance of survival analyses, analysis of rates, multiple logistic and linear regression
  • Complying with all SAHMRI policies and standard operating procedures, as well as regulatory requirements for programming, analysis and reporting of research projects

About You

The successful candidate will possess the following key attributes:

  • Relevant degree in statistics or biostatistics (Essential)
  • Postgraduate research degree (Master’s or PhD or equivalent) (Desirable)
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience of statistical analysis of complex research data
  • Use and experience of appropriate statistical programs (especially Stata).
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate with a team, researchers and staff of other institutions in the health care system and other organisations
  • Experience working with health data
  • Demonstrated high level written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to explain and interpret results of statistical analyses to others
  • Demonstrate ability in interpreting and writing statistical sections of research papers or other reports

Special Requirements

  • Some out of hour’s work may be required.
  • Possible travel interstate or overseas may be required.
