Respiratory Health Group

The Respiratory Health Group focuses on chronic lung disease and acute lower respiratory tract infections.

The group employs tailored techniques that allow the lung to be characterised to a high level of accuracy, including detailed measurements of airway microbiology (microbiome), mucus composition, and inflammation. This information is used to identify predictive markers of chronic lung disease severity as well as to identify effective forms of therapy.

Output from this group has helped guide the use of long-term maintenance therapy in people with severe asthma, which has been included in international clinical guidelines.
