The South Australian Aboriginal Ageing Well Roadmap
Project Status: In progress
Project administered by: SAHMRI

Wardliparingga Aboriginal Health Equity have partnered with the Office for Ageing Well to develop a South Australian Aboriginal Ageing Well Roadmap, the first of its kind across Australia.

The Ageing Well Roadmap will outline a strategic research agenda, aligned to key priorities, goals and objectives from the perspectives of South Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and organisation stakeholders.

A collaborative co-design approach using evidence synthesis and community and stakeholder perspectives to advance ageing well research that is specific to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people across cultural and social determinants of health. This research comprises three stages.

Stage 1: Collation of international evidence on the attributes, enablers, barriers and strategies to ageing well for Indigenous peoples globally.

Stage 2: Identifying ageing well priorities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples through community consultations in metropolitan, rural and remote South Australia.

Stage 3: Producing a South Australian Aboriginal Ageing Well Roadmap.

A Project Steering Committee comprising a majority of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander representatives from community service and state government organisations has been established to guide the research over two years.
