SAHMRI's research into Pregnancy and Childhood Development
Pregnancy and Childhood Development

The early years of life are crucial for healthy physical, cognitive, social and emotional development. Healthy development begins from conception and is even impacted by parental health before conception.

SAHMRI Women and Kids research groups are devoted to maximising health outcomes for children by studying the first 1000 days of life, starting at conception. The theme’s diverse research interests include the prevention of disability, allergies and premature birth as well as striving for improvements in policy and practice throughout the perinatal period.
