Heart and Circulation

The cardiovascular system is driven by the heart, carrying oxygen and other nutrients to the body and removing carbon dioxide and other waste products.

SAHMRI’s Heart and Vascular Health program contains a variety of groups investigating conditions affecting the cardiovascular system such as heart disease, atherosclerosis, stroke and heart rhythm disorders. This program also employs cutting edge imaging techniques and technologies such as artificial intelligence and nanoscale biophotonics to further its research.
