Joanna Caruso

Joanna Caruso works within the Health Policy Centre at the South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute (SAHMRI), located in Adelaide, Australia. This centre undertakes programs of research in public health, specialising in tobacco control, obesity prevention and alcohol consumption. The group delivers evidence to inform public health policy and population-based interventions to reduce the preventable burden of non-communicable diseases.

Joanna is a National Campaign Evaluation Coordinator whose primary focus is the evaluation of a national awareness campaign on alcohol, pregnancy and breastfeeding. She has experience working with population survey data and conducting social marketing evaluations at state and federal government levels. She recently worked within the Tobacco Control and Research Evaluation (TCRE) program. Joanna has completed honours in Psychological Science at The University of Adelaide. Through previous research assistant work at SAHMRI, Joanna has been involved in a variety of projects including consumer and community involvement, public health policy for sugar-sweetened beverages and alcohol, and psychosocial outcomes for cancer patients.
