More NHMRC funding success for SAHMRI researchers

Today, the South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute (SAHMRI) is thrilled to announce additional funding from the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) from the 2016 round of funding.

Important research being funded:

Mrs Katharine McBride from the Wardliparingga Aboriginal Research Unit has been awarded a Postgraduate Scholarship, seeking to understand the risk factors and burden of heart disease and stroke for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women.

Dr Carmel Collins, from the Healthy Mothers, Babies and Children theme has received a Translating Research into Practice (TRIP) Fellowship, which is seeking to implement evidence based clinical practice guidelines to improve breast milk use and the feeding management of infants born <34 weeks gestation. This was administered through the University of Adelaide.

SAHMRI’s Executive Director, Professor Steve Wesselingh, said that he is very proud of SAHMRI’s progress, and that SAHMRI’s collaborative model continues to prove successful.
