Full-Time, Parental Leave Contract 12-Months

The Australian Bragg Centre for Proton Therapy and Research (ABCPTR) - operating under SAHMRI as the parent company) is leading the implementation of proton therapy in Australia. The purpose of this role is to provide project management across a range of areas related to SAHMRI’s proton therapy initiative.

Reporting to the SAHMRI Executive Director, this fixed term position will work closely with all members of the ABCPTR clinical and project team including Radiation Oncologists, Medical Physicists, Radiation Therapists, Clinical Quality Registry Project Manager, and SAHMRI Executive Leadership.

The role will be responsible for planning, management, development and monitoring of various key workstreams in relation to the ABCPTR. The role will also be responsible for reporting project status and risks to ABCPTR Board of Directors, and philanthropic and Government stakeholders.

The role will work closely with the Lead Medical Physicist and SAHMRI legal counsel on the contract management of third-party suppliers to the ABCPTR.

As a senior person managing a small team the incumbent will require a hands-on approach to problem solving and a willingness to undertake tasks to support others in the team.

About the role

Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop and manage meeting agendas and board papers for the ABCPTR Board of Directors with the Company Secretary and ABCPTR management.
  • Identify, assess, and inform the ABCPTR Board of Directors of internal and external issues that affect ABCPTR including risk planning and management.
  • Manage ABCPTR third party contracts in collaboration with ABCPTR and SAHMRI corporate leadership.
  • Ensure all funding conditions and reporting requirements under the relevant Agreements are met.
  • Engage with the Federal and State Government stakeholders regarding project status and funding.
  • Work with SAHMRI finance and ABCPTR clinical leadership to monitor cashflow.
  • Co-ordinate workstream priorities with ABCPTR proton therapy clinical leadership staff including Medical Director, Lead Medical Physicist and Lead Radiation Therapist.
  • Maintain the ABCPTR risk register including supporting the identification and evaluation of risks to the ABCPTR, finances and reputation, and the implementation of measures to control all risks.
  • Work with ABCPTR and SAHMRI management to manage internal and external stakeholder communications.
  • Participate in special projects to continuously improve processes, tools, systems and organisation.
  • Provide employees with safe work practices and ensure that their welfare is secured.
  • Participate in the implementation of the Institute’s Work, Health and Safety Management System and related laws, regulations and guidelines.
  • Ensure that duties are performed in keeping with the principles outlined in SAHMRI’s Vision, Mission and Values and the Code of Conduct Policy.

About You

The successful candidate will possess the following key attributes:

Essential requirements:

  • Relevant university degree in healthcare related field, project management or business administration.
  • Demonstrated experience in project management ideally in the healthcare and/or Government sector.
  • Demonstrated ability to work within and coordinate multi-disciplinary teams incorporating demonstrated project planning, resourcing and budget management.

Non-Technical attributes:

  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills with all levels of staff including both technical and non-technical staff
  • Ability to delegate, negotiate and manage conflict.
  • Possess a high level of interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work well in a team.
  • Ability to work autonomously or under limited direction.

Special Requirements

  • Some out of hours work may be required on some occasions in order to minimise disruption to applications.
