An exciting opportunity is now available for a Software Developer to join SAHMRI, working within the ICT Applications team and reporting the Applications Team Leader. This position will focus on the analysis, development, implementation and change management efforts for new and existing software applications. The position will work closely with other members of the ICT and ANZDATA teams as well as the broader SAHMRI community.

About the role

Key responsibilities include:

  • Play a key role in the analysis, implementation, testing and change management efforts for new software applications and changes to existing software applications.
  • Develop new software applications and new features for existing software applications.
  • Investigate and rectify issues with new and existing software applications.
  • Write technical documentation for new and existing software applications.
  • Liaise with other members of the ICT and registry group teams as well as members of the broader SAHMRI community to assist in the definition and refinement of requirements.
  • Work within a well-defined software development process, using the defined tools for software configuration management.
  • Make every effort to communicate risks and issues in a timely manner.
  • Participate in meetings and other strategic planning sessions with the ICT and registry group teams
  • Consult, collaborate and seek professional and technical feedback with peers and managers
  • Scheduling project timeline/s, monitoring and reporting progress and supporting activities of registry software development and implementation.
  • Ensure the efficient and effective management time and software project requirements
  • Contribute to the achievement of professional expertise through the maintenance of ongoing personal professional development/continuing education
  • Complying with all SAHMRI policies and standard operating procedures, as well as regulatory requirements for programming, analysis and reporting of projects

About You

The successful candidate will possess the following key attributes:

  • Essential requirement: Relevant university degree in computer science, information management, or equivalent
  • Essential requirement: Relevant experience in Microsoft .NET MVC Framework, C# and Kendo UI
  • Desirable: 4 years’ experience in a similar position

Technical

  • Experience with Microsoft .NET MVC Framework, C#, Kendo UI and Git source control
  • Working understanding of relational database design and development using Microsoft SQL Server
  • Development of reports using Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services.
  • RESTful web service development
  • Responsive and accessible front-end development using HTML5, CSS, Bootstrap and JavaScript
  • Ability to understand an existing codebase and write meaningful unit level tests and documentation to improve overall code quality and supportability

Non-Technical

  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills with all levels of staff including both technical and non-technical staff.
  • Able to identify, analyse and creatively solve business problems into cost-effective and practical outcomes.
  • Strong customer focus.
  • Must be able to work independently as the only technical resource on a project, and in a team environment with other non-technical resources.
  • Proven experience in implementing and supporting software solutions
  • Commitment to producing quality code and UI/UX design
  • Proven ability to perform effectively under pressure and prioritise workloads. Efficient time management skills, to ensure a high quality of work is completed within required time frames
  • Demonstrate ability in interpreting code and documenting in plain language requirements for testing and
  • Ability to work within time frames, ensuring that deadlines are met

Special Requirements

  • Some out of hour's work may be required on some occasions in order to minimise disruption to applications.
  • DCSI Employment Screening checks will be required.
