Wardliparingga Capacity Development

The Wardliparingga Capacity Development program comprehensively and adaptively trains the next generation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander research leaders.

It is also focused on developing and supporting SAHMRI’s existing young Indigenous researchers to achieve their professional potential and contribute to meaningful outcomes for the communities they work with.

The program strengthens capacity through various initiatives including pathways for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, researchers and practitioners and capacity-strengthening activities, partnership building and research dissemination for all researchers engaged in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander research.

The program operationalises the understanding that cultural and research expertise can synergistically support each other, developing innovative ways to respond to issues of most importance to Aboriginal communities.

Overall, the program will help strengthen research capability among the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander workforce which will contribute to the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
