Emeritus Professor Keryn Williams

Keryn Williams holds Emeritus Professorial status in Ophthalmology at Flinders University. A graduate (BSc (Hons), PhD) of the University of Melbourne, she undertook postdoctoral research at the University of Oxford UK, where she first developed a career-long interest in transplantation immunobiology. On returning to Adelaide, Australia in 1981, she joined the new Department of Ophthalmology at Flinders University and began to work in the eye. From 1997 until her retirement in 2016, she was an NHMRC Senior Research Fellow, then NHMRC Principal Research Fellow. She is still the scientific director of the Australian Corneal Graft Registry and maintains research interests in corneal transplantation and evidence-based medicine. She is currently an Honorary Senior Principal Research Fellow, South Australian Health & Medical Research Institute. an Elected Fellow, Australian Academy Health & Medical Sciences (AAHMS), an Honorary Fellow, Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (RANZCO), and an Honorary Life Membership, Transplantation Society of Australia and New Zealand. In 2017, she was made Companion (AC) in the General Division of the Order of Australia.
