Today, on Clinical Trials Day, the South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute (SAHMRI) is thrilled by the Medical Research Future Fund’s (MRFF) announcement to invest $33 million in clinical trial capacity.
This investment will include $18 million in funding for new clinical trials and $8 million into clinical research fellowships to help ensure that Australia can attract and retain the best and brightest minds in research. The Federal Government is also committing $7 million over four years to help redesign clinical trial operating systems.
SAHMRI’s Deputy Director and Heart Health Theme Leader, Professor Steve Nicholls, said that this announcement has come at a vital time.
“This funding is a major step forward in our ability to conduct high-quality clinical trials,” Professor Nicholls said.
“This is wonderful news for SAHMRI, because it gives us the opportunity to continue to build a world-leading clinical trial platform in South Australia.
“Clinical trials are an important part of helping us achieve our vision of translating research into improved health outcomes for our community.”
