Beat Cancer Project

The Beat Cancer Project is a South Australian state-wide initiative intended to support and advance cancer research within the state. It is funded by Cancer Council SA and is administered by the South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute (SAHMRI).

The objectives of the Beat Cancer Project are to increase funding for cancer research, increase the capacity for researchers to attract more national and international research grants and build a stronger cancer research workforce with broader research infrastructure in South Australia.

Cancer Council SA Beat Cancer Project: Early and Mid Career Researcher Fellowships

The Cancer Council SA Beat Cancer Project has announced 2 new Fellowship schemes for funding in 2024.

Opening Friday, 4th August 2023, early and mid career cancer researchers based in South Australia are invited to apply for the following grant opportunities:

Early Career Researcher Fellowship

Amount: $80,000 per year for 3 years ($240,000 total)

Eligibility: <5 years post PhD, SA based cancer researchers, Requires matched funding

Mid Career Researcher Fellowship

Amount: $100,000 per year for 3 years ($300,000 total)

Eligibility: 5>10 years post PhD, SA based cancer researchers, Requires matched funding

    Fellowships are open to research scientists, clinicians, allied and public health professionals, or professionals in health services administration.
