SAHMRI Beating Heart Building Illumination

ba-boom, ba-boom, ba-boom

For one remarkable week a year, South Australia is the heart of Australian football – and this year, SAHMRI will be Gather Round’s visible pulse.

This extraordinary installation will transform the iconic SAHMRI building into a bright red “beating heart” on the city’s night skyline. For 10 minutes every half hour from 6:00pm to midnight each evening, SAHMRI will radiate the rhythm of the community.

It’s a powerful symbol of how SAHMRI’s research in elite sport can advance heart and brain health, nutrition, performance, and lifelong wellbeing.

As one of Australia’s most prominent sporting festivals, Gather Round focuses attention on athletic performance.

As one of Australia’s leading Health and Medical Research Institutes, SAHMRI is focusing attention on the medical science that supports physical achievement and wellbeing - for athletes, and us all.

Elite Sport Meets Elite Science: Healthier Futures Luncheon

SAHMRI invites you to join us for a very special luncheon where we’ll reveal what elite athlete can tell us about your health.

From neurology to nutrition and injury prevention to peak performance, we’ve assembled remarkable researchers who are making discoveries that not only enhance sporting performance but boost health and wellbeing in communities everywhere.

Hosted by Rebecca Morse, you’ll hear from:

  • Dr Dominique Condo on elite sport nutrition
  • A/Professor Adrian Elliott on cardiovascular health
  • A/Professor Kim Morey and A/Professor Rachel Reilly on racism in sport and its effects on health and participation
  • Dr Ryan Quarrington and Dr Hugh McCloskey on concussion and brain health

Doors open 12pm on Friday, April 10 in the SAHMRI auditorium, North Terrace.
