Mariana Brizuela

I am a post-doc at the Visceral pain group. In our group, we use an array of different laboratory technics, from the cellular level to in vivo animal experiments, to understand gastrointestinal disorders involving the ‘Gut-Brain axis’ such as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).

Specifically, I use ex vivo whole nerve electrophysiology, patch clamping and calcium imaging to understand the different afferents innervating the gut, the channels and receptors and investigating their function in health and chronic pain states.
