SAHMRI Board member recognised for lifetime of charitable service

The SAHMRI community warmly congratulates Kathryn House AM DSJ on her investiture as a Dame of Honour in the Order of Saint John of Jerusalem Knights Hospitaller – Australasia.

The Board member and Chair of SAHMRI's Public Engagement and Philanthropy Committee says she is humbled to be recognised for her community standing and service.

“What resonates with me is that the Order continues to task its members worldwide to uphold its ideals which include faith, chivalry and justice, and to serve the community just like it has for the last nearly 1000 years, particularly those who are vulnerable, disadvantaged, marginalised, both locally and globally,” she said.

Kathryn House has dedicated herself to community service and philanthropy since childhood and has worked with or supported dozens of charitable organisations including Catherine House, the Roger Rasheed Foundation, Impact 100 SA and the Festival Centre Foundation. She was made a Member of the Order of Australia in the 2020 Queen’s Birthday Honours.

The Order of Saint John of Jerusalem Knights Hospitaller was established during the Crusades in 1048AD as a hospice for pilgrims and locals, serving people of all faiths. It is an ecumenical Christian order with a focus on charity that operates under the motto Pro Fide, Pro Utilitate Hominum (For Faith, For Service to Humanity).
