Innovation driving Greaton’s support for SAHMRI

A shared commitment to research and innovation has seen SAHMRI strengthen its partnership with Greaton Development in the search for a novel cancer treatment.

 “I’m targeting the liver to prevent metastasis in people battling colorectal cancer,” said SAHMRI-based researcher Dr Hiroki Kobayashi, whose work is supported by the Greaton International PhD Scholarship.

“The liver is the site of almost all gastrointestinal cancer metastasis, so it’s a logical target to improve outcomes, but this has never been done before.”

Dr Kobayashi is a qualified pathologist from Nagoya, Japan. He’s spent the past three years in Adelaide studying for his PhD through the University of Adelaide and Nagoya University. Greaton’s support enables Dr Kobayashi to remain in Adelaide to complete his PhD.

“This scholarship means so much to me, giving me the security to continue my work,” he said.

Greaton has been a supporter of SAHMRI’s research into cancer and heart disease for almost three years. The developer has now increased its contributions to help fund the quest for cancer treatments.

“ We hope we can play a small part in creating a future where no one need lose a friend, partner, sibling, parent or child to this dreadful disease,” Mr Teng said.
