Program Information

SAHMRI will offer one work experience program in 2025 which will run across five days. Students are expected to attend the entire program, approximately 9:30am-4:00pm each day, so please ensure you are available for the full duration of the program before applying.

Throughout the program, you will be exposed to a range of activities across our research Themes. You will have the opportunity to learn from world-class researchers and get hands-on experience in our laboratories. On your last day, you will deliver a short presentation reflecting on your experience.

Program Dates: Monday, 28th July - Friday, 1st August 2025

To apply for the work experience program:

  • Answer the questions on the following page
  • Attach a short (1 page) cover letter explaining why you wish to participate in the program

Program Applications Close: 11:29pm ACST, Sunday 25th May 2025.

Students will be notified of the outcome of their application between Tuesday 10th June and Friday 20th June 2025.

Students who are successfully chosen to participate in this year’s program will be notified by email and will be required to respond with their acceptance within 3 business days. Failure to confirm within this time frame may result in the place being offered to another student.

Selection Criteria

When submitting your application, you will be asked to include a short cover letter detailing why you are interested in participating in the work experience program and what you are hoping to gain from the experience. There is no single type of application that will succeed - we want to hear why the program is interesting to you.
