Thermo Scientific Shandon Cryotome E

The Cryotome E is a model of cryostat, which is essentially a microtome housed in a temperature-controlled chamber. It is used to cut frozen sections of tissue, which are then mounted on a slide ready for microscope examination.
The thickness and temperature can be modified to suit the requirements of individual protocols. Tissue cut on the cryostat has not been processed, which is a requirement of some stains and in a clinical setting this enables faster slide preparation when a diagnosis is time-critical.
