Hugh is completing a PhD at Cardiff University Engineering department and Cardiff University Brain Research Imaging Centre (CUBRIC), with a focus on the use of Advanced Diffusion Imaging for the detection of sports-related white-matter microstructural injuries.

He joined the Clinical + Research Imaging Centre (CRIC) at SAHMRI in 2025 with co-funding from the National Imaging Facility (NIF) as a Neuroinformatics Fellow to assist in deploying preprocessing pipelines for advanced diffusion data collected on the Siemens C.MAX 3T MRI scanner. He is also assisting with neuroimaging data analytics and working with researchers at Adelaide University on projects related to measurements post-brain injury and concussion.
