Dr Dylan Harries

Dr Dylan Harries is a biostatistician with the Registry of Senior Australians (ROSA) Research Centre at SAHMRI. With a background in theoretical physics (PhD 2017) and biostatistics (Master of Biostatistics 2022), Dr Harries has expertise in registry science and analytical methods for modelling complex observational health datasets. Prior to joining the ROSA Research Centre, he was a biostatistician at the Australian Orthopaedic Association National Joint Replacement Registry. He has previously held postdoctoral roles at Charles University and the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation.

At the ROSA Research Centre, his research has focussed on methods for monitoring the quality and safety of care provided to older people in aged care and on characterising the reliability and predictive validity of quality indicators derived from routinely collected administrative data. His applied work at ROSA has focussed on the design and analysis of observational studies to examine aged and health care utilisation and health outcomes among older people with conditions such as stroke and cancer, having previously also worked on studies examining revision and patient-reported outcomes in joint replacement. He has also been instrumental in the delivery of the Australian Consortium for Aged Care Quality Indicator Repository and mentoring of other statisticians and team students.
