Saturday marked the inaugural 21km SAHMRI BRIGHT Walk, a challenge undertaken by more than 1600 walkers in the South Australian community in a spectacular public display of support for our institute and the life-saving work undertaken at SAHMRI.
Together, the walkers have raised almost $400,000, with donations still expected over the coming days.
Partnering with Illuminate Adelaide along the half-marathon track saw participants treated to a total of 21 light installations across the city, with 12 being exclusive only to those undertaking the BRIGHT Walk.
Kicking off from 5.30pm, BRIGHT Walkers drew the attention of the public as they bustled through the CBD and surrounds as a sea of bright pink, orange and yellow, lighting up the city as the sun began to set.
Thank you to all those who supported the event either through walking, volunteering their time on a Saturday night, donating to friends and family who participated and to the wider SAHMRI community for getting behind our researchers who are at the heart of this event.
