ROSA honoured with Future of Ageing Award

The Registry of Senior Australians (ROSA) Research Centre has been nationally recognised for the success of its Primary Care project, winning a 2025 Future of Ageing Award in the Research category.

The award acknowledges the five-year MRFF funded program, using big data to create evidence-based primary health care service delivery and policy for the Australian aged care sector.

Researchers analysed how 480,000 older Australians access and experience primary care across home care and residential aged care settings.

The project was a collaborative effort bringing ROSA researchers together with Flinders University, the University of Adelaide, the University of South Australia, SA Dental, and residential aged care providers ECH Inc. and Silverchain Group.

Throughout the project span, the collective produced 17 academic publications, two government reports and extensive policy translation, contributing evidence that’s already helping shape national reforms in primary health care and aged care.

The winners were announced at a ceremony at Dockside Darling Harbour in Sydney. ROSA Director Professor Maria Inacio was in attendance to receive the award on behalf of the research team.

"This recognition is based on an incredible body of work produced over five years. We leveraged the ROSA data platform and a Policy Collaborative to examine the access, variation, outcomes and cost effectiveness of primary care services for individuals accessing aged care services, both at home and in residential aged care facilities," Prof Maria Inacio said.

"Thank you Inside Ageing and the judging panel for acknowledging the national impact and scientific rigour of this work."
