Dr. Yazad Irani

Dr. Yazad Irani is currently a post-doctoral researcher in the GVL and Immunotherapy group at SAHMRI. Dr Irani completed his PhD in the Department of Ophthalmology at Flinders University in 2015 under the supervision of Prof. Keryn Williams. His PhD research looked at the effects of novel biologic drugs in neovascular eye diseases. After moving to Agnes Yong’s group at SAHMRI Dr. Irani’s research focus has shifted from the blood vessels themselves, to what flows within them. He is currently investigating changes in the immune system in response to leukaemia, in particular prognostic indicators for treatment free remission in chronic myeloid leukemia, and developing chimeric antigen receptor therapy against myeloid leukemia.
