    Samira Samarfard is a Next Generation Sequencing Specialist at the South Australian Genomics Centre (SAGC), located at SAHMRI. Samira holds a Ph.D. in molecular virology from the University of Queensland and has eight years of experience working for both research and industry (diagnostics). Prior to this, she was a molecular virology scientist working for WA and NT government Diagnostics Laboratories, Biosecurity and Animal Welfare Branch Facilities and has been involved with the molecular diagnostics of the Japanese Encephalitis Virus and other exotic pathogens that pose biosecurity threats to animal welfare in Australia. She is an expert in molecular biology, next-generation sequencing, transcriptomics, evolutionary studies, phylogenetics analysis, and network-based drug design.
